Real URLs

Real streams often use the RTSP protocol and you can usually find the proper URL to use by opening the Real Player, loading your stream and checking the Clip Source. Step by step instructions appear below.

NOTE: If you are a Real Networks customer and your stream is restricted to subscribers of the RadioPass or SuperPass, then you will need to contact Real Networks and have them setup a special URL for monitoring.

Stream URL

  1. First, open the link to your stream via a bookmark or your website.
  2. Once the stream is playing in Real Player, click on the File menu, select Clip Properties and click on Clip Source. This should open a new window.

Open Clip Source to find the URL of your stream

  3. You should see at least one URL listed in the box as shown in the example. If your stream runs from multiple servers, you will see a URL for each one. Copy and paste the URLs into your Stream Alerts Control Panel.

Playlists

Stream Alerts can automatically scan a .RAM playlist file from a remote site and pick out the URLs for you. Simply enter in the URL linking to your playlist and the system will start monitoring the first stream found within. If you wish to monitor a different stream in your playlist, edit your stream, and select a different URL.
