Real streams often use the RTSP protocol and you can usually find the proper URL to use by opening the Real Player, loading your stream and checking the Clip Source. Step by step instructions appear below.
NOTE: If you are a Real Networks customer and your stream is restricted to subscribers of the RadioPass or SuperPass, then you will need to contact Real Networks and have them setup a special URL for monitoring.
First, open the link to your stream via a bookmark or your website.
Once the stream is playing in Real Player, click on the File menu, select Clip Properties and click on Clip Source. This should open a new window.
You should see at least one URL listed in the box as shown in the example. If your stream runs from multiple servers, you will see a URL for each one. Copy and paste the URLs into your Stream Alerts Control Panel.
Stream Alerts can automatically scan a .RAM playlist file from a remote site and pick out the URLs for you. Simply enter in the URL linking to your playlist and the system will start monitoring the first stream found within. If you wish to monitor a different stream in your playlist, edit your stream, and select a different URL.
Is it available right now? Was it available 30 minutes ago? Do you know the last time it was not available, for how long, how often etc? As consumers migrate from radio and television to the Internet, it's critical that your streaming media is available when they arrive at your site.
Stream Alerts remotely and independently monitors your streaming video and audio to give you the confidence that your media content is flawless. With our Availability service, as soon as your stream becomes unreachable, we will send you an email or SMS alert and even contact your system to trigger a backup system. Payload monitoring for live streams provides alerts if your audio goes silent or your video freezes as well as quality statistics such as how long it takes to start playing your stream.
If you stream it, we'll monitor it. Catch problems before your customers do and make sure your content delivery service is living up to its promise. Take a look at our packages and monitor your streams today with the Stream Alerts testing, diagnostic and alerting service.
