URL Help
Picking the correct URL to submit for testing is critical to avoiding false alerts or even false positives. Here are some general rules to formatting the url:
- No spaces or strange characters! The system will tell you if you have illegal characters in your url
- Do not submit a playlist. Streams that end with extensions, such as .asx or .pls, are usually playlists and will lead to unexpected results when tested. For redundancy, most streams have multiple servers and they are listed in playlists so that if one server is unavailable, the player skips to the next one. If you submit a playlist for testing, if it doesn’t fail outright, then it may not alert you if a server is down because it skips any bad servers in the list and only plays the good ones.
- Always start with HTTP:// or RTSP:// or another protocol. This tells our servers how to connect to your stream.
